|Well, in THAT Case

Had a long talk with my daughters this morning, both of whom appear to be thriving. It's really hard being away from them for the school year, but impossible for me to do otherwise when I'm in school all the time. Their dad and stepmom are terrific, though, so I feel good about where they are.
Anyway, was talking to Erin about where she is going to go to college, and encouraged her to look at schools in Northeast Ohio. There are some good colleges here, and it would be wonderful to have her nearby. Suggested Case, Oberlin, and Kent State as places she should consider, pointed out that in-state tuition would be possible as I am resident here. Her responses were tepid...noncommital. Until I pointed out what is apparently the biggest selling point for any of these schools.
She can come here and do her laundry.
Suddenly, oh hey, let's talk about these schools! What are they like, what do they offer....
Good to know what really counts in a 17-year-old's life.
