Wow, talk about a story with a lot of finger-pointing, no sympathetic characters, and millions of helpless victims. Read this article on spiraling healthcare costs. In light of Kristi's treatment I am especially irritated.

Disgraceful bazaar haggling
I found the linked article
even scarier. What is this, the US or the bazaar?

Re: Disgraceful bazaar haggling
Bizarre, is more like it.
Raising health care costs can be attributed to one thing... The insurance industry... every doctor has to hire one to three billers to just bill the health care industry... That means he has to raise his rates to cover the cost of additional staff..just to do all that billing paperwork..and the health care insurance industry takes 25% or more off the top just to run themselves... That is more than any other industry... 25%... if they upped it a bit more they'd be getting as much as the military does for every dollar paid in taxes... and pissing it away just as fast and on nothing.
I did so much research on this and the thing that struck me is in the US the gov. all ready pays more per person (Over $4000 a year) on health care... more than countries that have universal health care! It is sicking that we pay so much all ready just through the gov...that doesn't even include private health insurance and businesses!

We have not had a Kristi update lately...
How is she feeling this week?
We are all still thinking of her.

Re: We have not had a Kristi update lately...
I will update after I call her this evening. At last report she was glad to be home but still dependent on the pain meds.
I'm not surprised. There's only one time when I wished I lived up north, and that's when I found out that my prescription medicine for my ears that I will need for the rest of my natural life is only four dollars in Candada. What am I paying down here? I'm paying $30, plus whatever the insurance pays.
How sad is it that the drugs are made her, shipped to Canada, shipped back and they're still cheaper than getting them straight from the company?
It is beyond pathetic, and bordering on criminal.
That article was absolutely disgusting and frighteningly true. I also can't help wondering how much of the increase in costs is related to passing on the costs for malpractice insurance, which has also become ridiculously expensive.
It really makes me wonder why we haven't already started moving toward a socialized health care system. I don't think it'd be any worse than we have now, and it would cut out a lot of the assholes in the middle who seem to be trying to grab as much as they can in the process of it all.
Insurance companies can afford lots of lobbiests to shmooze around Washington swearing that it would bankrupt the country and put millions of people in the insurance industry out of work.
We are on Tricare(health coverage for military families) I look at what they pay our family practice doctor and I figure that he pretty much treats us out of the goodness of his heart.

Uh, did you post this in the right journal? I am confuzzel-ed.
Yeh, it's in the place I intended. Just blame the latest meme idea from theferrett for this idea.
I hope that helps remove the confusion. If not, check my log, 'cause I posted a bit about it and what the actual questions I used to generate those were.
