A Topical Idea
If you're feeling daring, you could go as Leda Horticulture in full roofer-confrontation mode.

Re: A Topical Idea
I love you, dude. I don'tevenhave a clue who that is, but she sounds great.
You can't go wrong in black velvet with pale make-up.
And dye my hair flaming red?
I was looking for something a little more distinctive, really.
Well, I don't know how dedicated everyone is to the DC comics theme...I know I'm a bit intimidated by the "Poison Ivy" suggestion.
Is Spider Man DC? If so, you could always go as Aunt Mae. She may not be sexy, but the weight thing wouldn't matter. Hehe Besides. I like Aunt Mae. She's a sweetie.
She's Marvel, sorry. For DC...hmmm...well, there's always the Red Tornado

Red tornado isn't a bad idea. And the magician one could be fun. Thanks, those are good suggestions.
I vote Poison Ivy, too, even though someone has already beaten me to it.
Grand possibilities there! And *fun* too.
Fat Poison Ivy? That just sounds like an invitation to end up on Fark.com.
Ooooooo! These are scrumptuous!!!
Dunno, all the DC knowledge I had came from watching Superfriends, so I'll suggest that woman who could grow into a giant (the counterpart to the Native American guy).
On another note, in my latest entry I finished the story of how I became a confident pessimist. I know you'll enjoy reading it.
I vote for the original Red Tomato... um, TORNADO, because she kicked ass, and because absolutely nobody will top that as far as superhero costumes goes. The major problem would be getting the holes cut in the pot.
That and simply WEARING the pot....
Well, I'm running late in the suggestion box (stupid RL!), and amn't enough of a fangirl to know if the comics were DC, but may I suggest Flying Squirrel from The Tick? Leotards, hood, fluffy tail, red lipstick and battlecry of "I Like Squirrels!" Easy and what's not to like?
Alas, it would be excellent if Ferrett had gone with The Tick as a costume. Maybe next year.
There was a DC AU which featured one of the usual heroines as a fat alcoholic (but still cool!)
... but I can't remember who it was. I'll see if I can find out.
That could definitely be fun.
Cassie Sandsmark/Wonder Girl II. The comic was Young Justice, crossing over into Impulse, Superboy, and Robin. The storyline was "World Without Young Justice," in which an AU!Cassie got her powers from Dionysus instead of Zeus, with attendant differences to both her look and personality.
Image examples: Here
Big Barda? She's a big sort of psuedo greek samurai looking chick who I believe was in the JLA. She's more muscley than chubby but still, big chick in armor. Though you might want to save it and talk Ferrett into going as Mr. Miracle.
The only pictures I can find makes her look like a scaled up typical superheroine but I remember some older versions where she was more beefy.http://www.supermanhomepage.com/images/characters/who-images/big_barda1.jpg
Barda is really more tall than wide... though she's more heavyset than your average superheroine.
I loved the issue of Harley Quinn in which she appeared to defend Wayne manor. They told her to defend the grandfather clock at all costs (since it hides the entrance to the Batcave)... so she picked up the clock in one hand and continued to bash bad guys with the other.
Go as an animator for DC comics.
Now that's a very funny idea!

If you can't pick a character
Since this is a comic book based party go as a "Ghost" writer. Dress up like a ghost (or maybe just in all black with a zoro type mask) but carry a small white board around with you. Then you can go around putting words in other peoples mouth, or draw a funny thought bubble to hold over someones head. You could also add sound affects. For more fun write an action like "Suddenly our hero begins to act like a chicken". I'm sure most people would play along. Just think how much fun you can have controlling your husband.

Re: If you can't pick a character
I rather like that one as well.
