Oh I love this movie! I really need to get it on DVD too. My Mom borrowed my VHS copy...
I love Christmas music and movies, which is odd since I'm Pagan, but then Christmas was more of a secular holiday in our family anyway.
I love, nay adore, Christmas music. Including the religious music. Angels We Have Heard on High, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Joy to the World, all those big religious ones. love 'em. LOVE 'em.
I'm totally pagan.
Face it, they've got better music. Until we can make up for it, I'm gonna revel in it. To me, it's one more version of god, and why shouldn't I enjoy it?
(Can ya tell this is a rant in the making??
May you and your family have the happiest of holidays.
AHHH!!! I LOVE this movie!!! Must get that on DVD!!! I'm gonna need to get the Muppet Show on DVD too.
Fav line: "LIGHT THE LAMP NOT THE RAT!!!! LIGHT THE LAMP NOT THE RAT!!!" I have no idea WHY that line makes me laugh my butt off, but it does.
Honestly, the VD sucketh greatly. Obviously pulled off a bag film copy - there are flyspecks all over the place.
But I don't care. In a year or two they will do the big DVD re-release and I will buy it again. It's worth it to have those songs in my house again.
That is my favorite Christmas movie hands down. I get choked up everytime I watch it. The music is my favorite part I think. All the songs are well done and moving.
I'm a huge fan of all things Henson.
Indeed. I still remember it as one of the sddest days of my life, when I heard on NPR's Morning Edition that Jim Henson had died. I wondered how the world could go on. Thank goodness for Brian, who gave us this movie and Farscape, among other things.
One of my veryfavorite movies...will *definitely* have to acquire it this season. I really hope they have Muppet dvds at Costco again...they had two packs for twelve dollars...two three-episode Muppet Show discs or two movies. It would be *terribly* cool if I could get Muppet Treasure Island and A Muppet Christmas Carol together. I think I'd have them all then...until Oz comes out next spring.
Obsessive? Who's obsessive?! *grin*
You're so cute when you're scheming. [g]
That's one of the movies on our Christmas Season watch list... I could watch it over and over (and hey, with a two year old, sometimes I DO!!!) And I love the music. All of it. I've downloaded most of it, it always makes me Christmas mix cd.
Happy Holiday Season. :)
I love this version, and I also love the Albert Finney musical, Scrooge. Great music in that one, too. I noticed that one of the Mall chains (I think Simon's) is using the "Thank You Very Much" song from it in their Christmas commercials this year.
I love that movie, but I also love the John Denver / Muppet Christmas Special and would DIE to get that on DVD! It's my favorite CD to listen to this time of year!! :)
I love the CD (and have it here to listen to at work today!), but the special itself was kind of dreadful, as I remember.
It's on DVD now? That was the video that was sacrificed when my TV recently died, so I need a new copy. It was so hard to get THAT one I was dreading it this time!

I gave up and went the Amazon route - I simply never saw it in stores. As I said elsewhere, it's not a great copy, having been transferred from a film version that was decidedly NOT the master, but that's only really noticeable at the beginning when it's shot against the light-colored sky. And it does come with some extras.
The Muppets know about life :)
That is the best version ever in my opinion. They got Fozziwig just right! Did you see the musical version that was on this last Sunday? Horrible, just horrible.
I did not. I'm not a Kelsey Grammar fan to begin with. Sounds like I didn't miss much.
I figured that my first comment made on my new Alienware computer should be in the journal of the woman I love the most.
For extra-soecial amusement, I had Spider-Man 2 running in the background, and the chorus of people shouting hymnal-style anthems grew to a fever pitch just as I opened the box. *g*
God, I love you. Enjoy your laptop, as I enjoy this, and say a prayer for Tommy!
God bless Tommy.
B-but...you put on Spidey2 without me?! Adulteror!!!
No DVD extras for you! Not until I get home tonight!!!
Ever since Muppet Christmas Carol came out, the family Christmas Eve tradition has been to open the Christmas Eve presents, which is always pajamas, go put on the pajamas, and watch MCC. Then off to bed for the visions of sugarplums while waiting for Santa. All of us, Mom, Dad, my sister, my brother, Nana, and myself, all of us in our pajamas, watching Kermit and Miss Piggy and Gonzo and Rizzo and all the rest. THAT is Christmas.
I would drive my husband crazy except for my self control - I want to put it back on again tonight!
