Charlie Brown would give up on our tree [Dec. 24th, 2004|10:38 pm]

I meant to put up a tree this year. I really did. But then there were finals, and then there was work, and then all o the sudden it was somehow the day before Christmas Eve and we were snowed in and I had NO Christmas decorations up and both little opportunity and little time to make a showing of Christmas decorating.

There were, however, a few lefover bits and pieces from Christmases past, stowed away and all but forgotten in the depths of the basement. I salvaged what litle I could, and this was the result.
The Living Room

Not that impressive, but at least it's something.

If you look at the tree's reflection in the tv, by that picture, you can pretend there's one in the opposite corner.
Chuck loves it.

i think i'd have liked it even better if you'd had the greenery on the mantel but not the itsy christmas tree -- if you'd just had the presents under the place where a tree would be if there were a tree, and left the actual tree-ness to the imagination. or something. like the emperor's new clothes christmas tree, or some sort of arboreal godot.

I tried that first, but it looked way too barren. So the tree was pulled out.

Well, size doesn't matter regarding Christmas Trees...anyway. :)

Festive is festive. It looks great. What's that on the wall, though?

I was going to ask the same thing.

I love the candles and garland. I did a 4 foot tree, and that's it. But next year I need to make better use of all my candles.

As I said above, a piece of ceramic art that we purchased two summers ago in An n Arbor at the Art Festival. I didn't bother taking it down, as it is kinda fragile.

A piece of ceramic art that we purchased two summers ago. NOT Christmas related.

HEY!!!

We've got the very same tree! Except ours has a little red drum for the base. Neato! I really like the tiny, pre-deocrated tree...just pulled it out of the basement, straightened the branches, put it on my desk in the living room and plugged it in!

Happy When Life is Simple,
Patty

Re: HEY!!!

Thee is definitely something to be said for simplicity, no doubt about it.

Of course, I'm now sitting in a living room where it looks like a bomb went off. What a mess!

Hey, Casa de Geek doesn't have a tree AT ALL. Just a wreathe that Renthor's grandmother sent to us around Thanksgiving. And we couldn't get any present's under IT because the mantle was already covered in stuffed animals (not really sure I *CAN* explain that one...). But still. Considering that the only two gifts I remember being exchanged this year were alcohol, it all works out.

Still, it looks more than festive enough. Happy Holidays, you crazy West Siders, you!
