Harry Potter and the Long, Frustrating Wait [Jul. 16th, 2005|12:01 pm]
Zoethe
[Current Mood |anxiousanxious]

We took in the Harry Potter party in Hudson, Ohio, last night. We cheered with the crowds when the doors opened at 12:01 am. We were 445th in line, but had book in hand within half an hour, thanks to The Learned Owl's tremendously efficient organization. We stumbled through the door at something after 1am and collapsed.

And now I am waiting. Waiting and waiting and twiddling my thumbs.

Ferrett reads much faster than I do. So he gets first crack at the book.

It makes perfect sense, and I don't object - why should he wait on relatively pokey me? I do, however, mind. We wants it, precious! We thinks of it always!!!

Which is the problem. It's a miserably muggy day out, and I have no desire to go anywhere. We're feeling very strapped for cash, so even a little concilation shopping is out. I'm just puttering around here, too excited for my turn, trying to avoid the oblique hints in lj entries and generally obsessing like a junky waiting for a fix.

Which is what I am, really.

EDIT And, great, I am now going to have to stop reading my flist because some bitch made an icon giving away a huge spoiler. Because, WHEE, it's fun ruining other people's fun. Hahahaha, you sure showed us.

If it's any consolation, I'm pretty sure I won't be reading the book within the next year or so, so I'm pretty safe.

I'm afraid to read anything until I've read it (for book 5, I had the Big Twist Death spoiled for me by someone on my flist, and I was sad). But I won't get my copy until Monday. I think I'm going on an lj-hiatus until then, I'll go finish playing FFII instead. XD

I wish I could do that. But mine isn't coming for a couple of weeks, and there's no way I can stay off LJ for that long.... okay, maybe I could at some other time in my life, but I have butt-nothing else to do!

that sucks. I hate people like that. Really and truly hate them. Of course it's very sad that the only way they can make themselves feel important is to ruin everyone elses joy. I got into a seriously long lj drama over someone posting the winner of survivor in a community unrelated to the show, but in part related in a way to the winner, but in the meantime ruined it for everyone who hadn't got to see it yet (not even on the west coast!)

When their best argument is 'get a life' it fails completely because the whole reason you've recorded something to watch at a later date is that you have a life.

I'm waiting for mine to come in the mail today. I ordered it from Amazon. I'm really, really tempted to run to walmart and get it sooner but I have a picnic to go to this afternoon and I couldn't read it then anyway and it'll be here when I get home. But then I have to fight tori for it, so I might go get it anyway. I had two book 5's for that reason. :)

Ferrett reads so fast that I will probably have it in hand before the end of the day, which is why buying two would just be silly for us.

Once I get past anger and hurt (I really did have to fight tears), mostly I just feel sorry for them. Their lives have to be pretty joyless if spoiling the fun for other people is their source of glee.

Maybe it'll cheer you up that the only "spoiler" I've seen (all over the Internet) was a joke? Maybe it wasn't a spoiler at all?

I pre-ordered the book, thinking it would ship to the address I'm staying at today.

Unfortunatly, the delivery has been re-scheduled for some reason and should arrive on the 19th... at which point I may no longer be at that address.

ARGH.

From whom did you order it that it's delayed that long?!

You think you have it bad .. I don't sit still enough to read anything so I'm having to wait until I can get the audiobook to listen to. My hubby and best gay read the first chapter lastnight after we went out to a little local shop to pick up a copy for the Best Gay .. though they're not allowed to read the whole thing until Jason gets his copy today through Amazon.

It was a comment in a friend's journal, which has since been screened. Not the friend's fault, but still.

I made the mistake of reading the spoilers this past week, and apparently the ones I read are true. I'm thinking of avoiding this book till book 7 comes out now, just so I know how everything turns out.

I saw something on JamethSomeone's journal saying that if he saw ANYTHING about Harry Potter on his friends list, he would post the spoiler (I don't know if it's true or not) he would be posting this thing he made. Some people also made icons. I suggest you still keep your eyes open for a few days, just in case.

Sorry it got spoiled for you. I'm hoping that with the mind fog from Fibromyalgia, I will forget what I saw on that page... and that it proves to be untrue besides.

But I doubt it. Dammit.

WARNING

May I suggest that no one who cares is tempted to click on "Someone", or they'll SEE the bloody spoiler!

yep, that's the same thing that happened with the survivor winner. Someone posted about it in a community that had nothing to do with survivor and then went ballistic telling all the people he spoiled the ending for that it was our fault, we shouldn't have gotten on the internet if we didn't want to know, we should get lives (which we have, reason we weren't home watching TV at that exact moment, duh) and tens of other excuses why what he did wasn't rude and inconsiderate.

butts.

Our copy has been read twice now - once by Ferrett, once by me - and has passed on to Kristi, who was waiting impatiently for my finish. So you can't say our $24.99 was frivilously spent!
