Still freakin' awake [Oct. 7th, 2005|12:28 am]

[Current Mood |confusedrandom]

10 years ago, I:

Had been homeschooling for a couple years.
Had recently discovered the internet.
Was reveling in the realization that there were Star Wars geeks like me Out There.
Was writing my first fanfic.
Was still trying to be a good wife to Hubby 1.0.

5 Years Ago, I:

Was one year into a marriage with Hubby 2.0 that was still a bit buggy.
Hated a job I had loved only a few months earlier.
Was about to become a paralegal for the first time ever.
Struggled with having my kids in regular schools.
Was learning to roleplay.

1 Year Ago, I:

Renewed my marital vows with Hubby 2.0, an act of incredible trust and love.
Was really, really fat.
Was finally getting the hang of divorce litigation, and developing a real rhthym with my lead attorney.
Spent the night with a friend I'd never met before, chaosdancer in Columbus.
Was doing homework - because I've been doing homework forever, it seems.

Yesterday, I:

Got complimented three times on how great I look.
Made another Browncoat.
Defused a difficult work situation with a level of professionalism I have been working on for a couple years.
Didn't buy a cute top I wanted on impulse because, dammit, I had a coupon at home!
Ate sushi.

5 Snacks I Enjoy:

Oranges
Buttery popcorn at the movies - extra greasy, ultra artery-clogging mmmmmmmmmmm, dammit!
The spinach dip they have at all the lawschool events that we have to sneak out after class and scrape from the edges of the chafing pan because they chase us mere students away until the CLE guests have eaten, and yet being the hound to which the bones are thrown never bothers me.
Reese's deep dish peanut butter cups. Which I don't allow myself to have because - oh god...
Is orgasm a snack?

5 Songs I know all the words to:

Tons? One of Ferrett's great amusements is how I know all the other verses to christmas songs and hymns.

5 Things I would do with 100 million dollars:

Fix up my and Ferrett's family so that they had nice places to live.
Pay off my house and put in the ultimate bathroom.
Pay off my lawschool loans and do public interest work for all the hairbrain liberal causes.
Take a really long world-circling vacation first.
BMW 325-ci convertible, metallic blue. Not that I haven't considered this previously....

5 Places I would run away to (inno particular order):

St, John, USVI
Sedona, AZ
Seaside, OR
Home (there's no place like)
Amish coutry

5 Things I would never wear:

Gingham
Tight leather in public
Tight anything in public
Tin foil hat
Orange (trust me, it's not pretty)

5 Favorite TV Shows:

Buffy
Farscape
Firefly
Angel
Star Trek (TOS or TNG)

5 Bad Habits:

Random late nights of fucking around
Talking to myself
Grinding my teeth
Being a knowitall
Laughing way too loud

5 Big Joys:

Reading
Telling stories
Biking
Sex
Singing

5 Fictional characters I would date:

Luke Skywalker
Aragorn
Han Solo
Aeryn Sun
Spike

It's amazing how very much things can change in 10 years.

Thinking the Browncoat has nothing to do with clothing which would mean I'm actually catching on to some things. :)

With you on the orange. Yellow, not so good either.

Like the same shows. Haven't seen Farscape but thinking about renting it.

Hope you are feeling much better.

Briowncoat is Firefly reference

Farscape is awesome for three seasons, lost its way in Season Four, and then finished awesome.

So does this mean you watched Peacekeeper Wars?

And did you and Ferrett watch the Tivo'd Stargate SG-1 featuring Claudia in that hot as hell leather outfit? I'm still drooling.

We did indeed watch - and purchase - Peacekeeper Wars.

We Tivo'd SG-1, but did not get around to watching, and it fell off the Tivo. I have little time for TV. It'll prolly be a DVD thing.

You poor things - it really was a wonderful sight to behold. You'll be waiting a while for it to be released on DVD.

That leather (or rather, the lack thereof in strategic places) was the only thing keeping me watching this season. AND SHE WAS BANTERING WITH THE NERD!

Someday, I hope a hot leather-and-whips offworlder decides to chain herself to me with alien bracelets because she needs a medicinal chemist to...uh...improve her quality of life.

This season has been pretty lame thus far. The Ori suck wind, as does the new general. I'm guessing Michael "who farted?" Shanks made certain that Claudia's interests were with him and not Ben.

The Operative? Kill innocents much? ;-)

We finally saw the movie this weekend - absolutely LOVED it! Unfortunately, I don't think it is taking in enough money to garner a sequel.

Alas, no. But at least I feel like we got closure on some important issues.

I refuse to consider laughing loudly a bad habit, not if you're really laughing from joy and not just as social noise.

When surprised by something amusing, I have this tendency to let out a one-note HA! of laughter that is quite loud - people turn around. I don't mean to do it....

Let them turn! Joy & amusement are too often stifled in our world. You just need to practice a follow-up look to use on the ones who stare. I'd suggest either an enticing grin, to charm them out of being startled, or a cool look, to convince them to turn away again.

Most of the time it's fine. Just once in a while is it painfully inappropriate. And I do go for the infectious smile. I mostly get away with it, but not without people that I'm a bit...odd.

"Pay off my house and put in the ultimate bathroom. "

Yes! Ultimate bathrooms! I am obsessed with finding the perfect bathroom. Not that I own a house but I can have an active fantasy life if I want to, can't I?

What would your ultimate bathroom be like?

It would involve a very large, jetted tub, a multi-head shower (room for two in both), a stereo system, lots of counter space, and a massage table.

I love big, multi-head showers.

My fantasy bathroom has the tub and the shower. It also has lots of adjustable lighting & climate control, skylights &/or a big (but private) window, and some plants.

What colors would you use? Where do you get the masseuse to go with the massage table?

I haven't thought quite that far in advance. It's a fantasy bathroom, so the masseuse is available when I need him.

Wow - was that really a year ago? Amazing. Doesn't seem like it could have been that long. We were in the scary house then too, I think. You didn't get to see the better house. But if I went back now I probably wouldn't be able to sleep for the noise. :)

Yup, it was Columbus Day weekend. In the scary house (it wasn't really that bad).
