No crutches! [Nov. 23rd, 2005|10:06 am]

[Current Mood |chipperchipper]

The day-after verdict: I'm surprisingly not sore. Oh, I can feel it in a place or two, but for the most part I feel fine. 48 hours out may be a different story, but for now I feel good. I even got up this morning and did 45 minutes on my NordicTrack.

I need to keep up with the exercise. Fall has me eating like a horse - I know it's seasonal and all, but I am ravenously hungry. My weight's up a couple pounds - nothing alarming, but definitely not a trend I want to see continue. I'm not sure exactly how to adjust my eating to get over this. It may be that I just have to wait it out. If I keep up the exercise, I probably can't do too much damage.

Packed my suitcase this morning for the trip to Connecticut. Here's one of the greatest things about being thinner: your clothes actually fit into the bag. Last year I ended up putting some things into Ferrett's suitcase because my clothes were just too bulky to fit into mine. This year I packed everything I needed and then threw in an extra pair of jeans, just because they would fit.

It is the happy.

Awesome. I'm trying to start my morning off with ten minutes on the treadmill at aerobic speed to help get my blood flowing. 'Tis a good feeling. :)

I hurt my foot again. :( I'm going to the doctor to have it xrayed and see if I have a stress fracture or something, but I tell you it's like being STABBED in the foot every time I take a step and being POKED with a hot poker when not walking. So I'm not getting too much exercise right now.

You're on the west side of CT, right? let me know if you decide to make a run to a casino, I'll come visit. :)

We're actually going to be right in the southwest corner, but will have NO time to do anything that isn't already scheduled for the family. These are always whirlwind trips and we never get a chance to see anyone else.

Re: the foot thing. If the x-rays show nothing you may have an injured tendon. I get shooting pains in my foot now and then and they are a bitch. Gently stretching usually cures it, but you definitely want the x-ray to make sure first!

I had pains that sounded like that for years when I was a teenager. The podiatrist told me it had to do with the bones of my second toes being cracked. There wasn't much that could be done about it, other than insoles and soft shoes. It eventually went away, but now I have plantar fasciitis, which is almost as bad (though thankfully my feet stop hurting when I am not on them, now.)

Here's hoping something can be done about your pain.

Plantar fasciitis is a world of fun. I inflicted it upon myself in an act of innocent stupidity - walking miles up and down the hills of Juneau, Alaska, one day in thin-soled dress shoes. For years I could not go barefoot. It's a lot better now, but I am very careful of my feet!

Ooh... I know what you mean about barefoot. I was the same way for years. Still am, if I spend too much time on my feet regularly. I can't point to a specific incident that caused it, but I remember it during my job at a bookstore, on my feet 8 hours a day on concrete floors.

I did that to myself with a bad pair of sneakers (no arch). My doctor sent me to a special lab to have orthotics made. (they're foam insoles that provide an arch). I could not believe that the pain left when I put them on! He told me to NEVER wear a pair of shoes without an arch support, and that a one or two inch heel is better than flats or high heels.

In the winter the body sometimes needs a little more oil, get something like amond or nut butter and eat a teaspoon with celery or toast, it will satisfy the hunger....good luck

Maybe the weight gain is muscle?
