Grrr! *yawn* [Feb. 13th, 2006|08:00 am]

Got up this morning and did an hour on the NordicTrack, then upper body lifting. All going very well, but for some reason in the last week or so I have been incapable of getting myself out the door in time to catch the bus I usually take. This morning I thought I had it, but when I looked at my watch I realized I was running two minutes too late. Two minutes isn't a lot of time for most activities, but the bus is a major exception to that. So now I'm waiting on the later bus, which gets me into the office about a quarter of nine. This is no big deal, really, since I almost invariably work through lunch, and a lot of people don't show up until 9, but it throws off my day by a pace. Must get myself disciplined to a less leisurely breakfast. It's hard, though, getting so much done in the morning.

Historically, I've had to back up most of my start times at different jobs because I just can't get there early reliably. Sure, once a week I could work out before work, or I can go do an errand or two when I have to, but nowadays? Throw a two year old into the mix and I'm screwed. *I* could be dressed and out the door, but the kid is more likely to get undressed after I dress her than not. She takes her shoes off and tries feeding them to the dogs. And I get my aerobic exercise chasing her around the house to get her coat on.

Whee!

I feel quite fortunate that I didn't have to be a working mom when my kids were little - oi!

I have been late to work Every. Single. Day. for the last two weeks. This morning I tried showering at the Rec Center to save some time - which worked - but I then blew it all when I had to find the mushy card for Jim that I had lurking somewhere in my pit of despair office. (My one concession to the V-day hype.) I'm not even throwing a leisurely breakfast into the mix - I'm drinking tea and eating a scone here at my desk!

I admire your ability to fit a long workout and breakfast in before catching the bus to work, I must tell you. My only saving grace some mornings is my zippy little car :-)

I managed to catch the early bus this morning. I am highly proud of me!
