Sort of the last two days - or, drool..... [Aug. 10th, 2006|08:14 pm]

Saw big churches.

Pretty.

Saw big castles.

Pretty.

Saw monuments.

Pretty.

Visited with nuala, tweezlebum, weds, paranoidandroid and Nuala's hubby Andrew.

Lots of fun, lots of laughs, lots of staying up too late.

Exhaustion bad, friends pretty.

We have reached that point of exhaustion where Ferrett tells me something and I repeat it in a questioning voice, and he assumes that I'm not listening, but really it's because I'm having to work it out in my head. He's defending himself against my apparent incredulity, when really I'm just trying to decide whether I do want to walk up to the aviary: hmmm...that's a place...where they...keep birds. Ah.

The bar ate my brain, and has left me a little short on interactive resources.

Fortunately, my inherent directional skills seem to involve the brain stem rather than higher brain functions. My stress lobotomy has not interfered with my ability to navigate around town. I love the tube. It's all pretty lines that take you places.

It doesn't help that I'm catching a cold, of course. One more stress on top of everything else.

I will write coherently once I've gotten a bit of sleep. And overcome the newest challenge of getting through a British airport. Oi.

Time for Pimms

Pimms = delicious! (We have a bottle here, for summertime Pimms emergencies.)

Pretty sights = good. I hope you're taking pictures!

Airport and security drama = bad. Good luck navigating to your European destinations.

...and keep enjoying your wonderful vacation; your posts are making me both envious and v. happy for you that it's proving such a worthy reward for surviving to August. :-)

Ha! That's an exaggeration in my case. (More appropriate for J.) I've been travelling a lot this month, but the rest of the year stretches desolately ahead of me... so I think I can still be envious. :-D

(Also, not even a book?! Ouch. For your sake, I hope that changes soon...)

Yeah, we're sort of playing it by ear. Lovely to think about flying all the way back without the solace of a book....

You two were my first thought when I heard about the British airport problems. So glad you are having a good time and glad you're not stranded at the airport in all the craziness. Good luck.

We're supposed to fly on Saturday, but I am prepared to abandon plans before spending three days in an airport!

By the time we're headed back, thinks should be relatively settled down. I hope.

Good luck in the airports with all the new restrictions in place because of the foiled terrorist plot.

Yeah, we heard about that in bits and pieces while touring today, then read more fully about it this evening. Yeesh, but better that than news of a successful attack.

Oh lord, wherever you go here, we wear you out! As for no books on the plane etc...You'll at least be able to sit in silence at last. Nice, restful silence....

The flight was packed with screaming kids. Because they were bored, hungry, and tired from the many hours it took to get through the airport, poor things.

You have a point, but nice restful silence for the 9-hour flight home is *not* something I'm looking forward to!

It would help considerably if you answered the phone when I call! I am in Germany now, and it's difficult to get phone access. I tried just a few minutes ago.
