how he managed to travel all those months in the wilderness while maintaining his stubble at the same artistic length. To be honest, I don't much like stubble, though it's better than that other popular affectation, shaved heads.

Re: I always wondered
It was quite the impressive trick, wasn't it? I try not to think about such things. Instead I just stare and drool.

lol... me too - but then, I liked Viggo *before* he did LOTR too.
First saw him in GI Jane as the poet warrior... then found out he was (then) married to Xene Chervenka... LOTR was just another chance to drool for me
He was completely off my radar screen until LOTR. I still need to see GI Jane.
I first saw him as Lucifer Hisself, in The Prophecy
(although the quick perusal of IMDB shows me that I *must* have seen him in both Crimson Tide and Young Guns II first, but I remember seeing him as the Devil Incarnate, and thinking "wow. This is a man who can arrive, tear CRISTOPHER WALKEN'S HEART OUT and EAT IT. Who IS this guy?" That, and he was a Smoove G, just like I always thought He should be. I mean, this is a guy who fights against an omnipotent being by sheer cunning and moxie. He's gonna have some Panache, and yet, still be a savage mofo when you get him rollin'
I didn't see The Prophecy until after I saw LOTR, but I was still that impressed.
I got him as well.
I do love Lord of the Rings, but he definitly makes the viewing more yummy :)
Oh la la.. what an image to wake up to in the morning <3
damn me for not buying the LOTR trilogy!!!
I planned to watch it today while doing some quilting, but I haven't managed to turn the TV on.

Oh,yeah, me too. In other movies he's ok, but it's the Aragorn one that gets me.
I'm not sure what the other options were but I'm not sure the LOTR character that makes me feel naughty is a main character.
Now I'm all kinds of curious....
I'd have to go back and watch it again. I know he doesn't show up until the 2nd one and he really isn't a huge role. He was someones brother, I think.
Faramir? Boromir's brother? I never think of him as a minor role, even if he doesn't show up until later. And he is very cute.
I think he was the brother of the girl that had the hots for your guy. Is that the guy?
Oh. No. That's Eomer. Yeah, he was REALLY cute.
yep. that's the guy. Very Cute.

If only they'd done the rest of the casting that well. I'm of the opinion that Gandalf and Sarumon were reverse cast. And that Elijah Wood should be banned from acting, as should Liv Tyler.
I had to keep getting up and doing stuff to even make it through the the first film, and had to pass on the other two as a result of casting hatred.
See, I don't have that problem at all. I think that Christopher Lee is far too menacing for Gandalf, and I have no problems with Elijah's Frodo, once I accepted that Frodo was not going to be almost 50 years old (but still quite young because of the ring). Liv Tyler is not quite as good a fit as I would have liked, I do agree on that. But I can sit and watch them all without a problem.

Lee has intensity, which Gandalf is supposed to have, due to his unseemly past. Sir Ian does not have that intensity. Whereas he could definitely play crazy. I guess I feel like Lee could have played either role, but Mckellan (sp?) would have been much better as Sarumon.
The worst casting in the entire film was Legolas. He's supposed to be a badass. But look into his eyes and you will not see a warrior staring back at you. That bugs me to no end.
Viggo on the other hand was a perfecxt match for his role. You look at him and he is tough, he's not just playing it on TV. He and Gimli were just right.
You know that Viggo was not the first casting choice, right?
I still disagree on the Gandalf casting. Gandalf is supposed to be a friend to the hobbits, this powers not completely obvious. I can't see a hobbit doing anything but running in terror from Lee.
I've never heard anyone express problems with the Legolas casting before. Who do you think it should have been?
So I took this quiz and got Wormtail. Totally NOT posting. And strangely enough I have only ever liked Viggo in LOTR. Cuz Aragorn is hawt!
Oh, man, getting Grima would suck.
I like Viggo best as Aragorn, but I found him very hot in A History of Violence.
Of course I used to call LOTR the movie of the hawt men.
That and Angel The Series of Hot Men
