A thank you to wolflady26 [May. 20th, 2007|12:26 pm]
[Current Mood |cheerfulcheerful]

The only thing better than getting a box from Amazon that you're expecting is getting a box from Amazon that you aren't expecting. There is that long moment when you wonder, did I order something I've forgotten about? Then you realize that there is a surprise inside!

My surprise yesterday was a belated birthday present from wolflady26 - is there anything better than a birthday that lingers on for over a month?! It was a book, a retelling of The Mistress of Spices, and I devoured it in a single sitting. A lovely story.

And the weird thing is - I swear this is true - as I read the story I kept smelling spices. Cinnamon and cardamom, a touch of tumeric. It was crazy: if I put the book down and sniffed around my office, no scent. If I stuck my nose up to the book and inhaled, nothing. But as I was reading, these scents kept coming to me.

Thank you, Sandra! You made my day!

Aww, thanks, I'm so, so glad you liked it! I loved it when I checked it out of the library, and hoped it would ensnare you, too.

The funny thing is that I ordered it on your birthday, and I'd started to get a bit paranoid about it. Had it not arrived? Did you hate it and wonder how I could have such horrible taste? Had you read it before and mentioned it while we were hanging out, and I completely forgot? And then out of the blue came the notice from Amazon that they were shipping it. Gee, thanks, Amazon! I was belated, but not _that_ belated! :D

Oh, geez! That would make me a bit panicky, too! No, I hadn't read it, but I definitely enjoyed it. Thanks again!

Take some coffee beans and sniff It'll clear your nasal passages. Then open the book and take a single page and sniff that. See if they maybe printed the book with sprinkles of said spices.

While in the bookstore someone would open the book, smell lovely fragrances and buy the book as the smells hit the subconsious.

Nope. I thought at first that perhaps that was the case. I think it's just that I'm insane. ;-)
