My backyard pond [Feb. 6th, 2008|05:30 pm]

[Current Mood |nervousnervous]

Actually, my backyard is a pond right now. And still it rains.

This is the first time since we moved here that I'm vaguely worried about water in the basement....

Good luck. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the rain stops for you soon.

It appears that the worst of the rains has passed. Keep those fingers crossed!

You've not seen a backyard pond/swamp until you've been in Louisiana when it rains! :)

I'm sure yours is a pond . . . well, probably a kiddie pool compared to what I'm used to in Lake Charles :)

Yes, yes. But you can't walk uphill to school both ways because it's so flat.

Yes, we've had at least four days of rain so far, with more predicted tomorrow with the ubiquitous "wintry mix". The only good thing is you don't have to shovel rain!! If this had been snow, we might be up to our armpits by now!

It's definitely a balance - I'll take rain over shoveling; I'll take shoveling over flooding!

Send it down here? We're having drought concerns in Florida. So the more rain we get here the merrier.

You're welcome to it, but it's kinda hard to box....

We got a metric f*** ton of snow here in Wisconsin today. But it could be worse, I read that they had tornados in the South.

I will definitely pass on tornados!

As a precaution, I recommend glancing around the basement and rearranging so the things you definitely don't want to get affected by flooding are stored on higher shelves (or at least on top of the boxes you don't care as much about). Probably too late to matter by now though.

I had done an inventory of that very sort, but luck held out.
