Oh hell, I could have told you that.
Well, it's more like "mmm..that sounds good" "ooh, I could make that..." "...why did I buy six hundred dollars worth of ginger cookies?"
that's one of the top three rules of shopping:
1. Always make a list, and stick to it.
2. Stock up on sale items that you can store/freeze.
3. NEVER go to the store hungry.
Epic fail on all three counts.
it's ok once in a while (goddess knows I've done it too), but try not to make a habit of it. ;)
Never go to World Market when you have money in your pocket. ;)
God, I love me some TJ's.
That sounds damaging. o.o I have a hard enough time not buying fifty boxes of mochi ice cream when I'm full, let alone resisting those and all the other goodies when I'm not.
Yes, and I was buying for a small gathering, so it was snack food city.
I will be eating junk food all weekend. Oh, the anguish!
Well, it can be anguish sometimes. I know some days if I eat junk all day with nary a vegetable or protein source to be had, my stomach often protests and I feel lousy for the rest of the day. So don't forget some fruits and veggies to round out all the junk, eh? <3
At least it was TJ's and not like Ralphs or Vons or something standard. :)
Those I can resist. TJs has much more interesting snack foods for a gathering.
Could be worse! Could be Dunkin Donuts!!
No, the double D and I have an understanding. TJs is much more filled with novelty (I don't much like the Donuts at Dunkies, just the iced coffee and the supreme omelet on an everything bagel.)
Wow, you are different from me! I would leave Dunkies 10 pounds heavier, whereas TJ's makes me want fruit and healthy cereal and carrot and mango juice.
I get the opportunity to hit a TJ's so rarely I go no matter what. :) This past time was vaguely depressing though; was before my surgery so the whole trip was mostly "can't have that... or that... might be able to have one of those... fuck it, I'm getting these and they'll just taunt me for the next month."
Yeah, and this was a gathering where I was sort of expecting 6 people and ended up with 2 - guess who has LOTS of leftovers!
I'd offer to help with that problem, but we live too far away. :)
Funny, he says, having eaten half a bagful of Trader Joe's pretzels he just purchased today.
Even half a continent away, we are in sync, my sweet.
Funny you should mention this. After being a cookie free house for two months the chocolate chip dunkers kept calling yesterday ..."Suzie.....we're here......come over to the frozen aisle......we're on the shelf....come here.....". Hello breakfast.
And whatever you do, NEVER EVER EVER go to Costco hungry!
Oh, no. That's REALLY bad. The storage issues will kill you!
I have a grocery list of things I can haul across the country via car from CA to NY from TJ's. I'm going tomorrow to stock up!
Our nearest one is a half hour away. I only get to go when my kids belt test for tae kwon do.
So a question from Texas, where we don't have them....What is Trader Joe's?
However, when your friends go to Trader Joe's hungry and come away with three fabulous cheeses (think, "I'll have what she's having"), you should thank them profusely.
It was fun! We should do it again. When I actually feel like eating again....
Actually my bonus caveat is never shop angry. Its gives you an overactive sense of entitlement.
