|Reeled in like a fish on a hook

I sent the email about 3 weeks ago:
After agonizing about this for quite a while, I just think
I don't have time to commit to the game. Ferrett's
definitely in, but I'm already feeling stretched thin by
life. I really wanted to do it; sorry.
I really wanted to play in this new roleplaying game, but geez, there just isn't time in life for me to make an every-Wednesday commitment. On top of an every-Monday commitment and a couple different Tuesday commitments that eat up most of the Tuesdays each month.
No, I had to be good about this.
Then Ian responded:
well, ok. really like to have you though. door's always open..
just say the word. and, since i'm dying to know if you would have
played what would you have played?
At which point I wrote him a response outlining my character. I will not bore you with the details (everyone breathe a sigh of relief); suffice to say that once I put some thought into the character, she became much less of an abstract. And my resolve began to waiver.
Last night Ian came over to run a background adventure with Ferrett.
I should have known I was being set up. Just listening to them talk for a little while, and the next thing I hear coming out of my mouth is, "you know I guess I will play."
Um, yeah, so much for my self-control....
