The Ferrett turns 40 this year, and plans are afoot to make it a memorable event. The fact that plans are afoot is not a secret, but the nature of the plans is. I am starting early so that y'all have plenty of warning, and on the basis of responses to this poll will be creating a Ferrett-free party filter.

Just a couple things to let you know: if you are coming from out of town, we *will* find someplace to house you. Making a full weekend out of the event will be accommodated for out-of-town travelers, whichever weekend we choose. And if you're coming from Michigan, we can probably get you carpooled!

I'm off to play nanny for friends this afternoon and evening, so I probably won't get to respond to questions until later tonight, but I will. Those already in the know? COMMENTS ARE NOT SCREENED. Don't give anything away.

Poll #1365495 Weasel stompin' day

Do you think you would be able to attend Ferrett's birthday party?

Yes, definitely!
9(6.9%)
A strong maybe
19(14.6%)
Only virtually
99(76.2%)
Who is this Ferrett of whom you speak?!
3(2.3%)

If you are planning or hoping to attend would you prefer that it be on:

July 3, and let's plan a July 4 picnic, too
7(5.5%)
July 3, and I will have other plans for the 4th
4(3.1%)
Sometime during the weekend after 4th of July
5(3.9%)
I am able to do either
14(10.9%)
I can't be there but thank heavens you made me a clicky!
98(76.6%)

I'm kid-free July 4th weekend, but not the one afterwards.

I will bear that in mind, but if it ends up having to be the following weekend, the kid can come, too. Amy might be here then - we haven't solidified summer plans ourselves yet.

Britt's tricky to travel with, but we'll see how things shake out.

For a lot of people that day is their holiday day for the 4th. And the thing I have in mind is not available on the 4th, as far as I've been able to ascertain so far.

Ack! The second question does not allow for multiple selections! I chose July 3rd with no availability on the 4th but I could also participate on the weekend.

Darn, I tried to cover everything. My assumption was that the July 4 picnic would not be mandatory, only something so that people who were coming out of town would know that they wouldn't be stuck with no activity that day.

Somehow this year's holiday and weekend schedule is a mess. I work the Memorial Day, 4th of July AND Labor Day weekends, in addition I am actually *supposed* to work Memorial and Labor day. My summer is toast.

Is it okay if I want to come, despite not knowing you guys in person yet? I would assume that if babymonkey and mishamish are coming, I could carpool with them. And I can sleep on a couch or floor. XD I just need to know at least a week or two in advance so I can ask off (assuming I'm still working for Kroger by then, which I'm hoping I won't be).

Certainly! I will add you to the list and give you a date as soon as I can be certain; I'm hoping by the end of the month.

There's a 90% likeliehood that I will be starting a brand-new job in another state that weekend. Mayhaps Nick & I can make a guest appearance via webcam?

Times like this I wish you all lived in Jersey, New York or Philly because I'd actually make the trip.

...then again, OH is only about 500 miles from here. I could always rent a big Chevy, don my Ray Bans and say I'm on a mission from God.

Maybe not. I guess if you do some kind of webcam hookup type thing I'll pop in.

I'm going to go take my medicine now.

Can't commit to anything right now as, even though I just passed my driving test, I don't have a vehicle. I'd love to, though, if a way could be found to get me there.

Consider me a middling maybe, babe. Gots to find a job first and it will all depend on that. But if job (or lack thereof permits), I will be there with bells if it's not on the weekend of the 4th (already committed, i fear).

If you have room for a couple for a visit?

We could come and stay with you and help out and Shawn would just need internet access to work. We could arrive on the 2nd and stay for a week if you don't think we would burn out on each other...but oh, it would be such a neat experience to come visit you and see where you live and watch movies and play Wii Fit and Rock Band!

Re: If you have room for a couple for a visit?

Let me figure out which weekend it's going to be--with all the company I have work to catch up on first--but it should be absolutely doable and totally awesome!

I wish we could be there, but money is so tight right now and the month before Gencon will be an absolute bear for Brent this year. But on the good side, there should be at least 3 new board games at the AEG booth (or possibly more if the artist for Brent's new game ever finishes up), which is good for the company and our bank account.
