Wow, what an amazing birthday. It started Thursday evening with Karla buying me a birthday drink and the two of us having an hour of cozy visiting. Then it was off to the press preview of Star Trek, which was awesome (read Ferrett's review - he said it way better than I ever could). Friday began with hanging out with Amy, getting prezzies, and then going to the park and visiting with Kat and Eric and playing with their kids, followed by a guided walk in Lakeview Cemetery - an "Owl Prowl." We didn't see owls, but we did see lots of bats and it was a gorgeous evening for a walk. Afterward, we had dinner at the Mongolian Barbecue place - where I got mine free since it was my birthday - and then came home and Amy and I cuddled up and watched the end of Return of the King. By then it was about...oh, 2am
I had to get her to the airport by 6am to fly home. That part was not so fun. But I came home and went back to bed until about 11, and then Angie arrived from Michigan and we got ready for the party Saturday evening. It was a potluck to which Ferrett asked people to bring dishes that they thought I would love. There was a HUGE amount of AMAZING food. Special thanks go out to Ian and Tiffany, who couldn't even be here but dropped off a Hungarian Stew that was out of this world - I'm so glad to have leftovers because I'm going to be able to eat it a couple more times week!
In fact, we will not have to go grocery shopping all week long, there is so much delicious food left here. It was a fabulous evening of a house jam-packed with people, talking and laughing and visiting and then Rock Band. Lots of Rock Band. Much fun, and no problem finding people who were willing to sing and to drum. The fun finally broke up around 2am.
Today I have to do a little shopping - my mom sent me a gift certificate to Kohl's, and I have an coupon for there that is only good through today, so I want to double up on the freebie goodness.
And, thanks to my in-laws and some dear friends, I also have over $100 of Amazon goodness waiting for me to spend. SQUEEEE!
Plus there is apparently something afoot at PenguiCon, so my birthday will continue into next weekend.
Wow, do I feel loved.
