What is this surgeon's problem? Can't y'all find somebody more reliable? That's got to be frustrating as hell.
It's not the surgeon, it's the anesthesiologist. If it happens a third time, we will definitely be reconsidering.
Like the man above me said - you can't find another surgeon? Hell, PEI has two or three, and it's a province of 100,000 people!
Good luck with it, BTW. :)
His anesthesiologist has to be in court as an expert witness tomorrow, and surgery involving taking bone out of his jaw is not something Ferrett is willing to do under local - I can't blame him.
Can they use gas?
Cause gas is good stuff. Don't need an anesthesiologist, and trust me - he won't remember a goddamn thing.
Don't know, and it's already canceled. But I'll ask the next time if it's going to be canceled again.

Just A Thought
It'd be a bit of a drive, but I could see if Dad's office's oral surgeon might have time to see him the next time he's in.
He generally uses conscious sedation rather than putting people fully under & uses a nurse anesthetist instead of an anesthesiologist.
This is the same guy who broke apart & extracted all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth in one fell swoop & I only remember a minute or so of the actual procedure--in 5-10 second bits.

Re: Just A Thought
Thanks, but we've already prepaid for much of this. It will eventually work itself out.

Re: Just A Thought
No worries. :-)
I just wanted to put the option out there.
I'm kind of baffled that the anesthesiologist has to be an expert witness twice when ferrett's surgery is scheduled.
Unless that was not the exact reason last time.
Either way, I hope he gets the surgery done in July. That sucks they keep putting it off.
I don't know if it was the same reason the first time. Thanks.
Eek. No fun.
I think I got an invite, but I can't find it (switched mail servers... well, okay, it's probably mostly my disorganization and not remembering what name to search for it under, but we did switch mail servers...)
My response is going to be maybe, and I won't know until right before, FWIW.
OMG how utterly FRUSTRATING!
I forgot if I answered or not, but I requested both the 3rd and the 4th off of work. The chances of my getting both off are slim, so I'm not sure which one to prioritize.
You are on the maybe list.
All right. You can add me as a definite for the 3rd, I think it's more likely I can get that off than the 4th.
Also, suckitude at that damn anesthesiologist. You should yell at them. XP That's just not professional at all.

Re: This reminded me of you:
That is just plain brilliant, particularly the pictures. Thanks!!!
I guess on the bright side the anesthesiologist must know what he's doing if he's giving expert testimony.
I mean, it's not like he's being taken to court for, say, selling anesthesia out the back of his van. Makes him seem much more respectable this way.

Uh, no. One of my fraternity brothers got a nursing degree, and after about two years of employment as a surgical room started a nice sideline as an expert witness on nursing. It was a decent sideline for him in terms of $$$, but I can't see how he was an expert with that little experience. So now I don't trust any expert witness.
Sorry about the surgery, babe.
I've been laid off again, so I'm going to have to miss this year's event, I fear, due to the airfare vs stupid mortgage thing. But I will most certainly be thinking of you both!
Bummer - but you are making the right choice, of course!
Well, it's the most *logical* choice - not so sure about the right one :-)
Thank Ged for our incredibly efficient free-market health care system, eh? I mean, under the horrible tyranny of socialized medicine he'd have to wait and wait and wa-- what?
I had a bone graft done for a similar tooth implant... I don't know what happened, really, or where they got the materials for the graft. I don't remember if they gave me general or local anesthesia and laughing gas. In fact, I don't remember anything about that day, except that it was my 18th birthday and that I signed the waiver myself since I was legally an adult.
To sum up: No matter what happens, he won't remember a blasted thing. Really.
