Just talked to Brother. He's up and around, taking a walk, and appears to be going home today. Gall bladder removal only; appendix was fine. They did it by laparoscope. It's kind of amazing what they can do.|
That's good news! I'm so glad he's bouncing back quickly. About half my siblings have had the gall bladder surgery - I keep my fingers crossed that I got a different combo of genes!
The surgery is indeed amazing! When I had my tubes tied, they went in through the navel. I had a standard bandaid on it going home. Today you can't even find where it was.
I just checked my own incisions from having my gallbladder taken out about a year and a half ago. They're finally fading into white lines. For a long time they remained pinkish-blue.
I'm glad that is all it was! He'll be great in a few days!
Good! Glad he's recovering well. Best wishes -- :D
Hooray! I bet he was just having referred pain in the appendix area from the gall bladder, that probably made them suspicious (it was worth checking, if you're already in there you can easily get 2 out at once).
Pretty impressive! My mother had a big scar and because of our connective tissue issues, they eventually had to install a mesh to reinforce the peritoneum. Years later, I remember seeing a friends laproscopic surgery site; it didn't even need band-aids, just had a couple of butterflies across it and two little half inch slits.
Glad he's okay, must've been scary for a while.
It's always a bit nerve wracking when anyone goes in for surgery, yes. But he appears to be on the road to a quick recovery.
Simple is a good thing. Nice to hear he's walking around.
Glad he's better. I've had that surgery, it really is miraculous :-)
