Not quite dead of Project. Getting better [Dec. 6th, 2009|08:51 pm]
I have completed 95% of the Project of Doom. Stayed up all night Friday night, napped for an hour and a half on Saturday. Stayed up all night last night, went to bed at 7am when I realized I was actually starting to hallucinate a little. Slept 5 hours, got back to work. I've just opened the last set of documents for the Project and I'm between relieved and nauseated.

Lord of the Rings has held up for the entirety. I'm on Return of the King, listening to the extras. Don't think I'll even get to the commentaries. I know I wouldn't have been able to keep working without that sweet spot between interesting and distracting. Thank you, Peter Jackson.

And yes, even this distracted viewing on substandard equipment, "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you!" made me cry. And I want to reread the book. I love this story.

I have the LOTR DVDs, but I haven't yet found time to sit down and watch them through..it's on my list!
LOTR is my very favourite book(s)in the whole world; I have read them, at last count, somewhere around 25 times. Peter Jackson managed to capture the essence of the story and the film was one of the rare ones that didn't make me feel somehow cheated, after the books.

The extended versions are so much more satisfying - lots of great character moments added back in. And the extras are amazing.

Here's to hoping that this project isn't like school work and the last 10% takes 90% of the time.

Fortunately, it wasn't. But it did put me 90% behind on everything else....
