I fail at the sleep thing [Aug. 5th, 2010|01:36 am]
Zoethe
A contract project of mine went from "fairly straightforward:" to "hair-tearingly frustrating" thanks to the successes of the Obama administration in reforming the financial system. I figure that I will now average about $4.50/hour completing it, thanks to the additional research - how's that for stimulating the economy???

Thanks to the deadlines, I have been working late this week. Which was fine until now. But tomorrow I have to be in court on two different cases, which means I need to get some sleep.

Except I'm all wound up from the work thing. So sleep feels like a remote possibility. I must wind down now and chase it.

If anyone is awake at this hour, sound out. Tell me something good, or a secret (if you post anonymously it will be screened), or just wave a "hail fellow insomniac, well met!"

Bedtimes this week so far:
Monday: 5am
Tues: 3am
Wed:...maybe by 2am?

I should go chase sleep, too.

Here's to us! The wild and the mad! The hallucinating! The caffeinated!

No caffeine since morning here. I'm debating the "stay up all night" reset, but court might slay me....

Its a non-work night so I'll likely go to bed soon. Maybe...

I fail at the sleep thing

A mostly terrifying secret-not secret. I never fall-I guage the distance, consider the possibilities, and build a sensible bridge. Only I am pretty sure that this time I just ran straight for the edge, and leapt joyfully, arms spread. I don't know what happens when I land, and just now, I don't care. He is worth the possibility of pain.

I did that once - I ended up with Ferrett, the greatest love of my life. Go for it!

Insomnia is a killer... here's hoping you can get some sleep soon.

What I used to do back in my student days was to steep a bag of Sleepytime tea in a mug of warm milk. Sounds gross, I know... but it was enough to nudge me toward the land of Blinky-Noddy without causing the crazy dreams and morning hangover that most pharmaceutical sleep aids leave me with. Add a dollop of honey and it's actually rather tasty.

What's good? Spending the day at the beach (or what passes for it here in the Pacific NW) with one of my oldest friends was good. I'd say it was even worth the resultant sunburn! :D

2:14 am here. Groggily hauling arse up to bed.

A secret? Well, I have a crush on Steve Carrell.

Something good? Federal judge declared Prop 8 unconstitutional. One small step for personkind.

I had finally gone to sleep by the time you sent this. Of course I'm back up already, which is frustrating.

I'm also struggling with insomnia (stupid body).

But today's good thing is that drown_rat found the neck corset pattern I need as a starting point for one of the items in next Sunday's fashion show. Now if my body would cooperate and I could get things sewn...

I'm clocking in at 3 am most mornings lately. I'd suggest chat but I remember you said you are afraid of it, so there it is.

It's my Friday and I feel spunky! Plus I gave my Mexican coworker more new food experiences tonight. Some of the things he's never tried baffle me - like seven layer salad, and peanut butter and honey sandwiches. I sort of wonder just how representative he is of Hispanic folks in this area, but in the meantime it's fun to broaden his horizons.

I just read the title of this post right after typing to someone "Sleep hates me lately". It's time for me to get more sleeping pills, which will result in a good night of sleep. However, it also results in a 30-45 minute window of time where I do random crazy ass things, like purchasing presidential chia pets on amazon.

i was, amazingly, asleep when you posted. yesterday was VERY hard on me health-wise, and in the words of my granny, i was "plumb tuckered out".

my son and i both have insomnia. one of the very sweet memories for me when i was still married to his dad was him coming into the living room while i was reading and having him lie on the couch with his head in my lap and say "mama, make the gross milk for me". *G* gross milk= milk warmed up in a mug with a couple spoons of sugar, and some cinnamon. it worked very well to send him back to sleep, and its a favorite memory to both of us. :)
