Unexpected - but welcome - update [Oct. 20th, 2010|10:56 am]
Zoethe
Okay, so they are sending Mom home. They haven't figured out where she was bleeding, but taking her off Motrin appears to have made it stop. Her heart enzymes are fine, and they think she's okay. Echocardiogram scheduled for next week, but she's headed home for now.

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers!

Motrin can tear up your stomach - was she on a lot of it? Maybe that's where the bleeding was? (Although I'm sure, you know, her actual trained medical doctors know this, if I do. :P)

I'm glad she's doing better, though! *hugs*

That's why they immediately took her off the Motrin and suspected a bleeding ulcer. It appears that she had broader seepage rather than an actual ulcer, which is good because it should heal faster.

Thanks, dear!

Glad they caught it early! I was taking tons of Advil for wrist problems and my ultimate ulcer.. well, let's just say you really don't want them to stick a tube through your nose to pump blood out of your stomach so they can take a look. Seepage is a bad thing that eventually leads to worse things so it is good they found it.

Yay! This is most excellent news.

No more Motrin for her! Hope she can find a substitute that works without trying to kill her.

I hope she continues to recover nicely and that they are able to prevent this happening again.

Yay!So glad to know it's an 'easy fix' problem!!

They thought my daughter might have Luekemia when she was about 13 and started having 'bruising'. Turned out the aspirin she took for her menstrual cramps was doing it! She changed meds and never had it again!
