I think tomorrow I'm gonna have to bake a Schadenfreude pie. It seems fitting.
Oh. Sweet. Jesus.
They would have been safer stealing the godfather's girlfriend.
This makes me laugh so hard. XD
It's a bit like feeding Christians to the lions.
Pass the popcorn.
Aw someone's about to get punished. Disney prosecutes stuff like this for a hobby.
I'm imagining a cartoon of Walt Disney's head being kept alive ala Futurama screaming at his lawyers, "Sue them! Leave them penniless in the streets!"
Your profession actually gives you the gravitas to tell them what all of already of us know: "Hey, you idiots. I'm a lawyer and I can tell you with absolute certainty that you're violating copyright law." They're probably too stupid to listen to you either.
Well, she was consistent at least - right? :P
I wish she'd stolen from my work site so I could get our lawyer on it.
Very consistent of her. Disney will get her, though.
Good grief. They can't possibly be that stupid, and yet, it seems that they are. Stealing from Disney? Martha Stewart might let you live, but Disney takes no prisoners.
Oh. My. GAWD.
Do not steal from the Mouse. You will not like what happens when you do.
The Mouse takes no prisoners.
Someone in a discussion thread found Griggs personal really open FB. Here's hoping she takes that down before the crazies arrive. Her business is deservedly ruined but she can't know what's coming.
Someone posted her home address. That is SO out of line.
Plus, Disney will do the job in a MUCH MORE PROFESSIONAL manner.
I agree, she may be an idiot, but let's not invite additional idiots to the party.
Talk about too dumb to live.

Re: Disney?! O.O
Uhhhohhhhh someone's gonna get in troouuuuble.
I also/do find it pretty interesting that everyone realizes/notices/knows that Disney is Not To Be Fucked With in such a large way, on such a wide basis.
It may be one of those "all my friends think like me" things that happen on the internet, but... ...in this case I kinda doubt it.
Disney is famous for eating violators alive.
I showed this unfolding debacle to my editor at work and she is so completely appalled. All she keeps saying is " I hope the author gets a lawyer, I hope author gets a lawyer".
And for the record, my editor has been an editor for almost 30 years and she darn sure knows that the Internet is not public domain.
And Disney? All I can say is BOHIC*
(Bend Over Here It Comes)
same as the above with "again" :)
The author just wants an apology and acknowledgment, which would have made all this so simple.
You're welcome. Most of the time I play an author and conference organizer, but today I got to play a memetic epidemiologist. It was really kinda fun, and definitely fascinating.
Oh, and Paula Deen's legal team has already been made aware of the situation by the webmaster for Paula Deen Enterprises. WAH-HEY!
Apparently people have passed word to Disney as well.
I'm close friends with Monica Gaudio, I feel like I'm living the Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon or something.
You are now connected to Disney's legal team! ;-)
And they aren't suing me, I must confess, I am a little surprised by that :-)
This is totally awesome and made my day.
It's impressive what the power of the internet can do. And a little scary.
Thanks for sharing this. I can't believe she has gotten away with this for so long.
The fact that it's a giveaway in a small market probably has a lot to do with it.
