|Planting the seeds to grow a new crop of books

It was the longest six weeks of my life. |
Ferrett was in an exciting and stressful world, and my connection to it consisted of a telephone call at the end of the day, an email when he could find the time, and what LJ entries he managed to write.
But that six weeks transformed him as a writer. It dashed him against the rocks of his own personality. It almost broke him. And then it delivered him, triumphant, back home to me.
Of course I'm talking about the Clarion workshop: a six-week course in writing for speculative fiction writers. It's hard to encapsulate the difference that workshop made for its attendees--it's simply too transformative for an outsider to grasp. But it impacts their lives forever.
And now you can help other struggling writers experience the same. Ferrett is participating in the Clarion write-a-thon fundraiser. Details can be found on Ferrett's journal. There are prizes and everything! So pony up a few bucks if you can, and feel good that you are helping to build the next great writer.
