I have just watched what is left of the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer go right down the tubes. That giant sucking you hear sound is all my leisure time flushing down the toilet.
This office will soon be Under New Management, and the old regime is making darned sure that they are going out in style. Overtime, to put all files in perfect order, is mandatory.
The problem is, the month ahead is already jam-packed with activities. So the balance that must be struck will be very fine indeed. I can’t stay late tonight, due to errands before a scheduled activity, but I can stay until 6 tomorrow and make it home in time for the people arriving in my house. Wednesday is available until whenever needed, but Thursday-Saturday are out. Sunday morning can probably be wrangled, but he afternoon is spoken for, and it repeats the next week and the next. Then I have to get Amy, and am trying fiercely to protect my days with her. Hopefully, we will have everything taken care of before her arrival, because stealing away her weekend mornings for work is something I just don’t want to do.
August is Amy month, which will be fun but won’t be kicking back and doing nothing, that’s for certain. And then in September school starts again. It’s only the second weekend in July and I feel like summer is over.
Maybe I should consider the “arrive at 5am” approach. It would at least get me back into the swing of early mornings.
