Kristi update [Apr. 5th, 2004|05:19 am]
[Current Mood |hopefulhopeful]

Spoke to Kristi last night and for the first time in a long time it was like talking to my sister. They have changed her pain meds completely to something that is a patch and she is totally pain free. It's only masking the symptoms, of course, but she can at least sleep and eat a little, getting her own body back on her side. She was even able to get out of the bed to take a shower. More tests are being run tomorrow and maybe in another day or so we will have some clue what's wrong.

Also, for those who are overseas or just feeling too much of a pinch to send a card, someone suggested e-cards for Kris, sent to me. I will cheerfully print these out if you send today and mail them off to her tomorrow, so if you'd like to flood my email with cards, please feel free! Zoethe at yahoo dot com. (Remember, though, no animated because I have to print them out!)

I'm glad she's feeling better! Now, on to the diagnostic end of things...

Now that she's not taking umpteen things that really mess with one's body, it should be a little easier to spot what the problem is, especially once the discontinued medications clear her system.

Lighting a candle for your sis.

Thanks so much. They are definitely running her through a lot of tests - she is threatening to smack the next person who wants to take blood [g]. I just hope they figure it out pretty soon.

Yeah, I'm definitely less nervous with her under their care than where she was before.

One of the things that can often turn into a problem as big as the "original" is when too many meds are prescribed ,especially when they have negative interactions. It's also important that someone who's not well be able to get rest, and sometimes that means masking symptoms enough to let them get that for the time being.

It sounds like the docs in the new hospital are doing a better job, and that it's a good thing that she's there. Very, very glad to hear it....for all your sakes.

Yeah, rest gives the body the ability to heal, as does nourishment. She will definitely be in better shape to work through whatever they eventually find because of this.

The UW is a great hospital. My dad worked there for years.

Is she up for visitors? I may be very near there later today, and I'd stop by if she'd like to see me. You know, a random stranger.

Sure! She's in 6206. Kristi Edmondson, and my mom's name is Deeanna. I'm sure she'd get a kick out of you saying hi.

Current mood: hopeful

I'm glad that you have reason to hope!

I've been reading "Finding Foo" by B.D. Wong (about the extremely difficult birth of his twins) and one of his friends said "I'm not much into prayer, I'm more into rooting. I'll be rooting for (the twins)."

I'm praying, sending good thoughts for and rooting for Kristi

I mailed out a card this morning. I just thought I would let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts, and prayers (even though I am not sure "who" I am praying to), and that I wish your sister a speedy diagnosis, so she may begin the recovery process.

I wish that I had the extra funds to donate to her cause, but unfortunately my husband and I do not have much to spare. Which seems to be they way that 2004 is going for most people I know.

I hope that the card I sent will reach her before she is moved or discharged. I also wished that she be able to wade in the Pacific before leaving the coast.

I you all are "camping out" again tonight... I'll bring the S'Mores!!!

P.S. Though I have some vicious PMS right now, so my S'Mores will be made with graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate and potato chips! Gotta have that salty/sweet thing goin' on!!!

Dang! I'd really wanted to send along an e-card. With all the moving preparations I'd found this perfect card that I'd bought a while back so I'd have it handy just in case.

I'd wanted to scan it in and send it along to you and all, but *things* just seemed to get in the way the last couple of days.

I kow things aren't going as well as they should be, but there's tons of folks still out here pulling for Kristi.

Shhh! Must people always complicate things with facts? *g*

I'm still stuck two days in the past reading about the Superfriends. I'll catch up with the rest of the world and do a Meatloaf cover in about an hour though. Maybe less.
