[Current Mood |enragedenraged]

This is outrageous. I would be equally furious to find out that Democrats were intentionally disenfranchising Republicans. Apparently, a whole lot of people are going to show up in Nevada expecting to vote only to find that they aren't registered after all because some assholes thought it was a good idea to destroy voter registration cards of people registering as Democrats.

Pretty soon we'll need U.N. oversight for our elections.

We already have non-U.N. election oversight officials in the country for this vote because of the scandal mongering that went on in 2000.

Welcome to the third world!

I've signed up to volunteer AND I've made a donation to the election protection organization.

Someone's ass better get nailed to the wall for this.
I want to see jail time.

i think we should have UN oversight for this election period - i mean let's consider the LAST one... shall we? Pretty much the same thing happened in Florida - people were REGISTERED to vote (mostly african american) and were denied and/or harrassed when they tried to exercise that right. Happens more often than most people know.

Pretty soon?

Pretty soon we'll need U.N. oversight for our elections.
I believe the need started 4 years ago.

Dems don't do this sort of thing but not because they are angels or above it somehow. My theory is they either don't have the Dirty Tricks Handbook (tm) or they are just too........cluelessly inept?

This whole thing has the same slimy feel as my divorce trial had. Bleh.

I read about this yesterday. There is something new every day, and I'm starting to wonder what country I live in.

What do you mean, "pretty soon"?

I agree with lyssabard above.

And just to put this URL in front of a bunch of people who don't already read my journal, here's a clearinghouse of vote-fraud stories.

Interestingly, as pointed out in a few articles I've read on the situation, the law that is supposed to make it easier for people to register to vote is what leaves the door open to many of these abuses. Sadly, if you want to make it easy for anyone to register voters, it also becomes easy for assholes to mangle the process.

That is true. Any registered voter can register people in Ohio (and maybe elsewhere). My mom carries around a big stack of voter registration forms anywhere she goes and registers people she meets. And she is honest as the day is long, but someone unscrupulous could do the same thing.

It will also be interesting to see if folks show up claiming to have registered and they haven't and use this information as to why they don't show as registered?

True dat. Which is why they will simply deny the vote to anyone who isn't officially registered. Unfair, but unavoidable.
