Pats on the head are good [Aug. 14th, 2005|04:16 pm]
[Current Mood |happyhappy]

So many times a big job just ends up being one of those things you check off your list. It's wonderful when the reward for your actions is immediate and impressive.

Over the last couple months, the water flow in the fountain has tapered off to a trickle for the plain and simple reason that there was too much crap at the bottom of the sump, limiting the water flow to the pump itself. Today I vacuumed all that crap out of there. In all, it was a difficult, messy job that required carrying too many heavy and awkward loads, and my back is feeling it.

But when I refilled the fountain and turned the pump back on, there was a surge of water, the flow and splash of the fountain restored to its original state.

It was then I realized that my lack of time in the garden has been due to guilty avoidance of this nasty task much as it has to the fact that Kristi has been doing the bulk of the work and there weren't any other chores demanding my attention.

Excuse me while I go sit in my garden.

hooray for a happy fountain! despite the evil that is cleaning said fountain.

you are the winner. or rather, everyone who sees your fountain is a winner, but you are the GOLD winner.

Good job! I know that makes you feel so much better. And now you can enjoy your garden that much more.

I am working on my laundry right now. I have a horribly nasty habit of washing, but not putting away. I am realyl trying to work on that so that I can, you know, see the floor of my closet and stuff?

Man, it's like I'm 12 or something :))

I am AWFUL about laundry, particularly once school starts. This year I had Kristi to do it all, so it has been refreshing during her time away to confirm to myself that I can, indeed, keep up on it all by myself. She should be home late tonight, though.

I know the pain of laundry. :/ What I do is use the laundry to be a once-an-hour study break. That way, I get up from my desk, walk a bit, and move laundry from hamper->washer->dryer->basket. I multitask news/tv time for folding/hanging stuff.

You rock.

It sounds delightful to have a nice clean running fountain to sit by in this heat.

I was recommended to add you by a few friends of mine. I don't usually keep people on my LJ friends list who don't add me back, but you may find me interesting. I'm a married bisexual polyamorous woman in a triad with my two husbands and I have a girlfriend in Florida (I live in Atlanta, GA). I look forward to reading your journal, and I hope you don't mind!

congratualtions!.....if you set yourself a maintenece schedule it won't get so bad and doing a litle at a time will keep the water and you both flowing. I do understand about avoidence thought....then again the more you avoid the worse the problem gets....argh

Yes, I scold myself every single time that if I only paid a bit more attention it wouldn't be such a big job.
