Sometimes it takes so little to make me happy [Sep. 6th, 2006|07:05 am]
[Current Mood |happyhappy]

In this case, $3.95. (Well, okay, $4.13, including tax.)

New gardening gloves. Exactly like the ones I've worn out (except blue instead of green). Close-fit knit with sturdy latex coating on the palms and fingers to make pulling up nasty, prickly things quite painless.

We walked down to the little Lebanese place last night (mmm, chicken shawarma...) and then over to Home Depot. I found just the gloves I wanted. It made me happy. This morning I spotted them again, sitting on the windowsill where I left them last night, and they made me happy all over again. I'm hoping to get home tonight in time to put them to use (an iffy proposition, as a huge project is coming to a head at work today).

AND I got new, thicker tubes put into the tires of my bike (when it once again had a flat yesterday - grr!). So now I'm off to ride to work.

Which also makes me happy.

Two things . . .

1) I'm happy that your gloves have brought such joy into your life. Seriously :) Stuff like that makes my day too.

2) If you get a flat again, make sure to take the tire and look at the inner surface of it really closely and rub your finger along the whole thing. I had a bike that kept getting flats. After I paid to have the tube changed (because I'm not as cool as you to figure out how to do it on my own) about 27 times, someone finally looked at the inner surface of the tire to find out that a tiny splinter was lodged in there and kept puncturing the inner tube.

I had the service guys change out the tubes yesterday (it just wasn't worth my time) and was pleased to note that they very carefully checked the inner surface of the tire. They're good there.

Yay for happy! :) I've heard that you can put some slimy crap in the tube for punture resistance or something.

I want to avoid if possible. It can lead to 'splody, in the wrong situation.
