Haven't done one of these in a while [Sep. 15th, 2006|01:20 pm]
[Current Mood |exanimateexanimate]

Friday Five
1. How much TV do you watch? Almost none. TV makes me really antsy. I watch maybe one show at a time. I never turn on the TV just for background noise. We do get series on DVD and watch those, however.

2. What type of show is your favorite? Scifi. I used to like watching nature and history stuff on PBS, but again, I just have no patience for TV

3. Which talk show host do you hate? All of them?

4. Are you looking forward to any new season premieres? Coming this fall? Nope. There's nothing I'll be watching as it happens. I am, however, looking forward to watching Season 2 of Deadwood, which is waiting on the shelf in our living room.

5. Which show is your guilty pleasure? Anything by Joss Whedon, because I'm guilty of watching them over and over and over....

Isn't it just amazing how much TV just turns off your ability to concentrate and contemplate? I think Groucho put it best, "Television is very educational. Whenever someone turns one on, I go in the other room and read a book."

I am waiting for Season 3 of Dr Who.
If only so we get Jack back at the end of it.

Well, yes. But that isn't a new season premiere that's scheduled for here.

re: TV Seasons on DVD

Have you guys watched "Veronica Mars" yet? I'm currently burning through the second season (it arrived on Monday and I'm already halfway through the third disc).

The first season is pretty much required viewing to understand the second (every episode has a complete story but there are ongoing story arcs and the main plotline from the first season does get a satisfactory conclusion, though).

I think of this show as a bag of potato chips, though...it's hard to just watch one (episode at a time).

Have not done this show. Or Alias. There are limits to our time and budget.

I've got the first couple seasons of Alias, if you want to borrow them (for a long time if you like)just ask when you guys are over this weekend. We also have the first season of Lost. The last 2 seasons of Alias were pretty terrible, though.

Oh come on. You don't like to watch those Maury Povich paternity shows? The ones where some woman drags yet another man on in hopes that this one will turn out to be the father of her baby.

I couldn't pick Maury Povich out in a line-up. And I like it that way.

Beware of Deadwood

We just finished watching the fourth season of Deadwood. I felt that the quality of the show held strong through the entire run. However, HBO has pulled the plug on the show after the filming of season 4 (too expensive). We are left with no real resolution.
There is talk of a couple of movies to finish off the series, but that is not agreed to yet. Before you invest the thirty plus hours it takes to watch the series, you at leas have a right to know that many issues will not be resolved.
I think that it is worth it.

Re: Beware of Deadwood

We've watched Season 1 already, and were aware of HBO's ridiculous decision. But I'm used to it - fan of Farscape and Firefly - and have hopes that the audience demand for resolution will out.
