We ignore what's right under our noses [Oct. 14th, 2006|08:15 pm]
[Current Mood |peacefulpeaceful]

I have lived in Rocky River for 5 years.

And only today, for the very first time, have I bothered to go into the Rocky River Nature Center.

Oh, I've biked the multipurpose trail in the Rocky River Reservation plenty, but never once did I take a detour off that well-worn route to explore the Nature Center.

I only went there today because they were hosting a quilt show.

What I found there was a very nicely laid-out center with a lot of information about the area and plenty of pleasant hiking in the woodlands surrounding it. Of course, this is no rugged Pacific Coast or Alaska hiking, but it just felt good to get out on a trail and listen to the wind in the trees and the sound of birds. I can't believe it took me this long. It won't take me this long again.

I'm finding more things this year in the town where I live than I have in the previous nine that I've been in residence.

It's good to explore. Many treasures out there.
