Gah! [Mar. 19th, 2007|06:51 pm]
[Current Mood |soresore]

I am a moderately intelligent woman.

I have reasonable powers of observation.

I do not suffer from amnesia.

So how is it that I, who knows I have lower back issues, who knows that said issues are exacerbated by jumping back into a workout routine too quickly, who knows that I will suffer and suffer badly if I do not ease back in after almost a month off, nevertheless pounds out 40 minutes of brisk aerobics three days in a row?

Can then be shocked when my back went out today?

I'm an idiot.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I strained a back muscle doing yoga the first time. I should have known better. But, I wanted to do it so badly. LOL

Hope you feel better soon.

Because you are DRIVEN. You are an over achiever and it overrides your otherwise good sense sometimes.

Get yourself one of those heat pads, stock up on Aleve and/or Ibuprofen, and be very careful over the next few days not to exacerbate the injury. I purchased a back belt from Home Depot (the kind used by guys who do heavy lifting in their job) and use it whenever my back gets "twingy". It's support helps my back feel better and the stiffness reminds me not to do anything dumb like bending over to pick something up.

I hope you feel a lot better soon.

I will take it easy. I've been spending a lot of time in the massage chair.

Must be idiot week.

I ran a 10K on Saturday without being properly trained and then climbed Mt Si (3,100 foot elevation gain over 4 miles) the next day.

Did I mention that I'm not walking all that well today?

Oh yeah, I did the mountain thing the day before my period was due to start, which it did today, with a vengence...

So I have cramps in my uterus and back and legs...

[slaps self on forehead]

I can point and chuckle, 'cause I've done similar things.

Yea, oh we of intelligence and genius, who hate to admit our own mortal frailties and shortcomings.

the same way I know that after dislocating both knees the exersize machines make my toes go numb & the same reason I always try to use them. "MAYBE THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFRENT!"

I wish you a speedy recovery!

Thanks. It's a bit better this morning. I'm taking it easy today, though.
