Yesterday evening Ferrett had to stop eating by 10 pm, and for the next couple days it's gonna be fluids and soft foods only. So last night I told him he could have whatever he wanted. After thinking for a little while he sad, "What I really want is macaroni and cheese from that soul food place that closed."
I offered to make him homemade - I make a respectable mac and cheese - but he sighed and said it wasn't the same. And, honestly? I have to agree with him. This stuff was better than any I've ever had. We were marveling over it, wondering what wasin it to make it that good. Addictively so.
"It's gotta be crack," I said, to which he agreed.
I clapped my hands and let out a whoop. "It's crackaroni and cheese!"
"I hate you," he said.
I keep saying crackaroni and cheese and giggling.
Now I must locate caffeine. Ferrett is in surgery. I am in waiting room.

Wow, it actually happened!
Well, quick, and painless wishes to him. And, err...avoidance of boredom wishes for you!
btw...are you a scrabble fan, perchance?
Not enough brain cells for scrabble right now. It wasn't painless, but it's over except for the recovering.
and the next steps in the whole thing.
But that's a ways down the road.
Glad he's out and safe! You know, pretty soon your hubby's gonna be an expert on recovery. I can just see the subject of his next book..... :-D
He sure is lucky to have you, babe! *hugs*
I hope all goes smoothly with the surgery!
Best of luck to you with the waiting, and to Ferrett both in surgery and his recovery!
Please do let us know if you need anything.
(*also snickering about Crackaroni and Cheese* I think I've had that before. Actually, cynic51
have made a remarkable version of it.)
I will have to apply to them for a batch of it - Ferrett will be able to eat warm foods in a couple days.
If you need your coolers back, BTW, they are here and clean. Other than that, I think we are okay.
*hugs* I hope you found good coffee/caffeine.
Crackaroni and cheese sounds real good about now!
saw ferret's twitter; sounds like the surgery is done albeit much more painful than hoped (ack - i understand how much that sucks)
mainly wanted to comment on the mac & cheese - i've been really pleased with my outcome using this recipe http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=602991
- i sometimes change up the cheeses, top with bacon or add ham or chicken to it - but if you change cheeses the one thing that's important is that they melt fairly well
and i'm not sure how this will work with regular pasta but i believe this is based off a classic mac & cheese recipe so it should be fine (although i love the dreamfields pastas - low net carbs, high fiber and protein, and neither the boys i live with nor myself can tell it's not traditional pasta - available through netrition.com if you can't find it locally - i've pretty much replaced all pasta with their products and it is good)Edited at 2009-07-21 08:06 pm (UTC)
That looks quite yummy. I may have to give it a try.
Not really painful; just very unsettling. I mean, it hurt vaguely to get a mallet to the jaw, but that was mostly impact, like sitting on a bumping bus.
In short: D-, would not purchase again.
Now I want to make crackaroni and cheese. It sounds like the sort of thing that requires at least 4 different cheeses and specific seasonings.
Huzzah! It's Mad Kitchen Alchemist time!
Let us know how the surgery goes! Our thoughts are with the both of you! Best of luck.
