Success! [Apr. 6th, 2010|12:31 pm]
As of now there are 20 lawn and leaf bags filled with yard waste and ready to go to the curb Thursday morning.*

20 bags. Plus a large pile of branches pruned from the wisteria.

That's a lot of stuff.

There is still more to do, and planting hasn't even started yet, but at least it's not an appalling mess anymore.

*Our fair city hauls all these bags to a composting facility, so I don't feel bad about the waste.

Good for you guys! When I lived in a house I disliked yard work.

I don't really like yardwork, but I do like having a nice yard. There is a price to pay for such things.

I just throw all my yard waste into my neighbor's yard and treat that as my de facto composting facility! I was surprised you had so much, but after a long winter it's to be expected, especially if you have a lot of plants in your yard.

Not just a long winter, but a summer of neglect and no fall cleanup. I was a bad, bad yard mommy last year - I'd gotten used to my sister doing it all for me and didn't pick up the slack when she moved back to Montana. I'm definitely paying for it this year, as I will be pulling weeds all summer. But I'm going to try and make it a priority so I get it back into decent shape.

Yeah, that's too much for most people to compost on their own, in one go, I guess. I love to compost but if I started off like that right off the bat, there would have been a problem.

I have a composter, but we got way, WAY too behind. I will go forward with it once we get this done.
