Mosques in Manhattan [Aug. 20th, 2010|01:26 pm]
I know y'all read him, but my sweet baboo really hits it out of the park in his argument for why the Islamic Cultural Center should be allowed to be built in Manhattan.

Well, then let's tear down all the Christian churches in Muslim countries where thousands were killed during the crusades!

What's in poor taste is saying that Muslims as a group are somehow hurting America by being in the area. Guess what? They are Americans, too. The way America has always dealt with differences is by embracing them and making them part of ourselves. Keep pushing Muslims off as the attackers, and you make them the attackers.

I'm not sure what world you live in where Christians are allowed to build churches wherever they want in Muslim countries. Let's go chat with Christians in Iran shall we? Also, where did I say anything about tearing down Muslim churches in America? Why is it that having the opinion that building a mosque at Ground Zero automatically equates to I think all Muslims should be kicked out of the country? That is ridiculous rhetoric on your part. I simply think that another site would be more appropriate.

I point you again to the real world example I gave you concerning Auschwitz and the Catholic church. I am not asking the Muslim church to do anything that the Christian church has not already shown itself willing to do out of love and consideration for our fellow man in a situation where there was a far more tenuous tie to the tragedy at hand. What I hear you saying is that you do not believe Muslims capable of the same love and sympathy shown by the Christian church. I personally pray that they are better people than you seem to think they are.
