Home improvement always SEEMS like a great idea.... [Sep. 26th, 2010|12:18 pm]

One more round of "stuff that's gotta go somewhere else." Everything on the shelves has to be put somewhere else to facilitate painting. And not the table, because the table has to be disassembled for floor refinishing.

And there's no better way of discovering how sick you still are than to start doing stuff. I've managed to stow the stuff from the right-hand side of the cabinet, but still have to get the middle and all those books. Our basement is going to be impassable before the end of the weekend.

I can't wait until all this is done. Ugh.

On the upside, that is a drop dead gorgeous china cabinet.

Thank you! That built-in was one of the many things that made us fall in love with this house.

I think your reasons are exactly why I haven't done many home improvement projects lately. I'm afraid I'd end up sick and without the energy to get the job done.

The good thing about hired help coming to do the main parts of it is that it HAS to be ready for them when they come. The painting and the floors WILL get finished.

The challenge will be in putting everything back away and getting art rehung. I suspect that there will be some short tempers over that portion of the project.

I am so sorry your life upheaval and illness coincided. Life just does that... a lot! All my best wishes.

I think the upheaval and illness are directly related - I'm doing much better today, when all the dust is settled.

Fortunately, we are doing this right when we don't have to run either the AC or the furnace for a little while, so we will do minimal damage to the heating system. And one more week of upheaval should finish the worst of it. I shall survive.
