Ding dong, the carpet's dead!!! [Sep. 27th, 2010|09:41 pm]
Zoethe
All the carpet is torn out of the house. Beautiful hardwood is revealed - it needs some TLC, but it's in great shape. It should be finished in two days, according to our marvelous painter/floor guy - I will happily recommend him to anyone who's looking!!!

As for me? I am of two minds this evening:

1. OMG, it's AWESOME

2. OMG, how am I EVER gonna get it all pulled back together?!?!

You see, this is a very busy work week, plus The Ferrett Dad arrives on Thursday for a week's visit, and then October's calendar already looks like it has varicose veins.

But there's stuff I've got to unbury in order to get work done, and everything is coated in dust and will continue to be so until the sanding is done, so what's the point of cleaning it twice and OH GOOD GRIEF it's going to be awesome!

So I continue to be of two minds, and to have nowhere comfortable to sit - my back is killing me just now - but tonight I sleep in the island of furniture adrift in the middle of my purple bedroom. So yay for that!

think of how much fun its going to be seeing opposite cat zooming about the beautiful floors!

and yes, timing looks to be a bear, but it will be done then its going to be GORGEOUS and you'll get to wander around your house beaming ear to ear and thinking "oh my goodness, we get to LIVE here!"

It really is almost a new house in exactly the neighborhood I love. I'm very excited - when I'm not completely overwhelmed!!!

I still say, as I told Ferrett, that you should enlist friends to help. They are usually cheap labor, and the more help you have, the faster it goes, both because there are more people, and because you're chatting the entire time!

Speaking as one of those friends within convenient driving distance...call me! I think evenings this whole week are fair game except I have to work Friday or Sat. evening (TBD). Predicted rainy weekend might make for a good furniture-moving, book-hauling, bric-a-brac dusting time.

I'd help too, but I'm halfway across the country, and I can't afford the plane ticket.

I would never have someone fly in to make them clean my house!

This week is still going to be tearing down, and then Ferrett's dad is here for a week. But I may take you up on the offer!

The problem is that the primary thing involved is cleaning cleaning cleaning after all of this is done, and then the secondary thing is making decisions, and having a lot of people standing around while I stew about how to do things would be stressful.

::raises hand:: Always looking for good crafts(wo)men who know how to love on this old house. Referral, please? It'd be nice to have someone who really knows how to love on old wood.
