Here's the next book you should read: Cat Valente's Deathless. Once again, Cat uses her lyrical prose and her extensive knowledge of folklore to weave a fabulous retelling of an old tale. This time the backdrop for the story is the rise of the Soviet state, and the tale told intermeshes the harsh realities of Soviet life with the fantastic.

My copy is winging its way here from Amazon. I can't wait for it to arrive!

I saw the link on FB as well. She's Guest of Honor at the local CON this summer. I may well try to figure out how to get there. Many of my friends go 'religiously', but I've only been once, as an assistant to a vendor.
